Who We Are

Chess Cubed is a chess game developed by Matthew Lebo. This policy explains how Chess Cubed handles information in the web version and mobile app builds of the game.

Privacy contact: support@playchesscubed.com

Information The Game Handles

  • Local game data. Chess Cubed stores settings, audio choices, CPU difficulty, saved local game state, move history, display preferences, and multiplayer nickname preferences on your device using browser or app storage.
  • Multiplayer data. If you use multiplayer, Chess Cubed sends and stores the nickname you choose, a randomly generated session/client ID, room name, room code, room visibility, player color, connection status, timer settings, gameplay settings, moves, chat messages, and related timestamps so rooms, reconnects, chat, and gameplay can work.
  • Technical data. When you load the game or use multiplayer, hosting and network providers may process technical request data such as IP address, browser or device information, request time, and diagnostic logs needed to deliver, secure, and maintain the service.
  • Support and donation data. If you email support, we receive the information you include in that message. If you use the Buy Me a Coffee link, that transaction is handled by Buy Me a Coffee under its own privacy practices.

How Information Is Used

  • To run the game, remember your preferences, and restore saved local games.
  • To create, list, join, reconnect to, and synchronize multiplayer rooms.
  • To display multiplayer nicknames, room details, moves, and chat to players in the same room.
  • To provide support, troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse, and protect the service.

Sharing

Chess Cubed does not sell personal information and does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

  • Multiplayer room participants can see your nickname, color, moves, chat messages, room state, and related game information. Public waiting rooms may appear in the lobby with room and player summary information.
  • Service providers, including Cloudflare for hosting, networking, and multiplayer storage, process data as needed to operate Chess Cubed.
  • Information may be disclosed if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or to investigate misuse of the service.

Retention And Deletion

  • Local game data remains on your device until you clear browser or app storage or reset the relevant setting.
  • Multiplayer lobby listings are limited to active or recently active rooms. Multiplayer room records may be retained as needed to operate rooms, support reconnects, troubleshoot issues, maintain service reliability, and prevent abuse.
  • Support emails are retained as needed to respond to requests and maintain support records.

To request deletion of data associated with a multiplayer nickname, room code, support email, or other identifiable request, contact support@playchesscubed.com.

Your Choices

  • You can play local games without creating an account.
  • You can avoid multiplayer features if you do not want nickname, room, move, or chat data sent to the service.
  • You should not put personal information in your nickname, room name, or chat messages.
  • You can clear local browser or app storage to remove saved settings and local games from your device.

Children

Chess Cubed is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information through the game, contact us and we will review and delete it where appropriate.

Security

Chess Cubed uses reasonable technical measures to protect information handled by the service. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Changes

We may update this policy as Chess Cubed changes. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are made.
